Van: The Fugitive

August 27, 2018

What’s your all-time favorite TV show? I’d be interested in knowing. Send it to me with a one-liner of why on my contact area.  I have a lot of favorite shows old and new of all genres, but none even come close to “The Fugitive” with David Janssen. You probably know the story either from the show or from the Harrison Ford movie, but in a nutshell, here it is.  A compassionate doctor, Richard Kimball, has an argument with his wife and leaves the house to cool down. In returning home he sees a one armed man running out of the house. When he goes in he finds his wife dead on the floor in a pool of blood.  He gets accused and convicted of murder and on his way to the death chamber the train he’s riding wrecks and he runs free, week after week looking for the one armed man. Of course he too is being hunted by Lt. Phillip Girard who is obsessed with his capture.

The kicker is that every week the fugitive winds up saving or helping someone else.  He even saved Girard’s life a couple of times. My takeaways:  Life’s not always fair….sometimes grossly unfair. We’ve all experienced that to one degree or another. Don’t give up. And as you do whatever you need to do, you’re going to be put in situations where others need help. Help them, no matter how bad it is for you.
